Geotechnical Solutions

GeoLogo LLC is helping companies or individuals to make better decisions in planning constructions or purchasing property. GeoLogo LLC is helping them to mitigate geologic risks. Don’t buy or build on moving ground, like landslides and fault lines, which are destroying your home.

GeoLogo LLC is providing the following services:

  • Geologic mapping, evaluation and risk assessment
  • Soil mechanics and slope stability analysis
  • Seismic hazard analyses and liquefaction evaluations
  • Risk mitigation and slope stabilization
  • Drainage and groundwater improvement
  • Deep and shallow foundation recommendations

Geologic mapping, evaluation and risk assessment

Best mitigation is not to buy in areas of fault lines and landslides. But how do you know, if you are dealing with soil movement or fault lines on your potential property? A detailed geologic mapping of the surrounding area and your potential property will evaluate if your property is located on a fault line and/or whether it might be affected by soil movement. Depending on the geologic mapping, we will perform a risk assessment of your property.

Soil mechanics and slope stability analysis

Slope stability is a function of the composition of the rock, soil, pre-existing slope breaks or fault lines, water movement and the slope angle. Detailed analysis of these factors permits mitigation of liquefiable soils, swelling soils, collapsible soils, slope instability, fault rupture hazard, and strong ground motion.

Seismic hazard analyses and liquefaction evaluations

The Ecuadorian Andes were formed by large-scale tectonic uplift and volcanism. Therefore, tectonic and volcanic activity are abundant in entire Ecuador. Earthquakes and pre-existing faults have a significant influence on the slope stability and geologic risk. An assessment of tectonic history and detailed geologic mapping give insight into the potential future and geological risk associated.

Risk mitigation and slope stabilization

In case that fault lines, slope breaks or potential soil movement are observed on your property, we will provide you with an individual risk mitigation and slope stabilization plan which might include drainage, reduction of the slope angle and/or retention walls in order to deduce or to stop further erosion. Ground modification/ improvement design to mitigate liquefaction and excessive settlement.

Drainage and groundwater improvement

Deep and shallow foundation recommendations, abandonment

Depending on the geologic evaluation, we will be making recommendation for foundation, if you are planning to build a house or a road on your property. Deep and shallow foundation solutions might mitigate some soil movement. If we observe an abundance of faults or slope breaks, or we see a high chance of slope or rock failures, GeoLogo LLC will make a recommendation to abstain from constructions.
